Tales From The Drop Box Episode 186 (2020-34) / The Pandemic Episodes

As anticipated by last weeks Coronavirus explosion in the U.S. , we are going to be in a world of hurt in the U.S. over the next month. It should be not too surprising to anyone who has followed Tales From The Drop Box that not only was this rapid increase in infections anticipated, but sadly, even knowing what we know, the fact that we as a society could have prevented all of this tragedy and refused to do so was also predicable. That is, despite knowing what we actually truly do know about the spread of COVID-19, many millions of people still refuse to cooperate with the basics necessary to keep the virus spread in check. Thus, the predictable result is what we as a country are experiencing now – which is increased hospitalizations followed shortly thereafter by death. I am truly shocked by how numb we have become to the reports of COVID-19 deaths and our apparent acceptance of truly preventable tragedies. It is too sad and disappointing to actual reflect on this tragedy for too long. So…take action. Take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones by following the scientific guidance you know to be true – you are safer at home. Don’t gather in groups indoors. Create physical distance from each other. Wear a mask. Participate in the social contract we all make to live in a free society i.e. do no harm to each other.

Episode 186 of Tales From The Drop Box is a little bit more aggressive this week. Not sure why these tracks are a little louder, a little angrier perhaps, but they are. So sit back and turn the volume up. I’m going to do that as well. Then I’m going to think about the positives in my life so that I can go out and continue the fight to overcome ignorance by spreading the truth about things that matter to all of us, such as the importance of the rule of law, following the science, questioning authority and making decisions based upon empirical data. We can get to a better place in our world but it is going to take all of us.

Tales From The Drop Box Episode 185 (2020-33) / The Pandemic Episodes

A shift in emphasis for this podcast’s liner notes following the election of Joe Biden as President of the United States of America. The reign of terror we collectively have all suffered for the past 4 years will come to an end despite the continued nonsense from the loser. As it is obvious that we are truly a nation divided, there is nothing like a pandemic to bring people closer together, right? I am hopeful that Biden will get a chance to enact policies that will end the racial disparity pandemic. However, the immediate focus for all of us must be getting on the same page with regard to COVID-19. When I mean the same page, I mean follow the same understanding with regard to reducing the spread of the virus. That is, stay the F____ away from each other (and me) and wear a mask.

There is no scientific debate as to certain characteristics of the virus and reduction of transmission of the virus to each other. The virus is highly transmissible and its infectivity is viral load dependent (i.e. more virus you are exposed to the more likely you will get infected). The virus can be transmitted via aerosol. Consequently, the less time you spend in enclosed spaces, closer to one another, and without a barrier to prevent you from spewing droplets or reducing the amount of virus you receive from someone else’s viral spew – the better.

You can reduce the risk for you and everyone you encounter by following the basic rules for survival that we all know to be true. These rules might change over time but biology, like life, is full of change. So don’t freak the F___ out if these rules are altered as we learn more about a virus we had no experience with when we first encountered it 10 months ago. As we get more data, perform more analysis, we may reach different conclusions but this does not mean the “science” is incorrect. It means that we are making decisions in an every changing environment and that good science recognizes change and modifies conclusions while calculating probable outcomes to future events. This pandemic is all about probabilities. This one is proving true in those states that ignored the rules laid out above – if we as a nation continue to not follow the rules, then more people are probably going to die. I’d like to avoid that. Hopefully you would like to avoid more death as well, eh? We need to FOCUS!!!!!

As for music, even Tales From The Drop Box follows some rules. These are the track must be catchy, musically interesting, and, if I’ve selected properly, trigger some type of response in the listener. You can always tell me how I did. or not.

Tales From The Drop Box Episode 184 (2020-32) A New Dawn In America And The End Of The Reign Of Terror /BLM/Pandemic Episodes

President-Elect Biden!!!. Well, I can stop holding my breathe after Biden pulled out a win for democracy. I am truly thankfully that a resounding majority of the American populous decided that decency, honor, truth, and the rule of law were more important than demagoguery, corruption and sociopathic narcissism from a crime family that operated the U.S. for the past four years. I am still markedly disturbed that almost 1/2 of the country voted for that sack of shit masquerading as a human, but hopefully once the stench is removed from the people’s house we can all move forward, find common ground, and operate in the best version of a democratic society. So, to those who voted for Biden – Thank You. For those Republicans who repudiated the former president’s message of hate and lawlessness a big Thank You is also in order.

Given how close the race was in a number of states, it is important to note the importance of every single vote. Every vote counted is a vote for democracy. When every vote is tallied, I am confident that the margins in battleground states will be larger for Biden. This election was a mandate for a different type of presidency. The country is still clearly divided on policy but with a stable individual as president I am hopeful bi-partisanship will be the form of governance. That is, with a unity message from President-Elect Biden, we can now, together, begin to truly confront the issues that are out-of-control in America, namely, the COVID-19 pandemic, systemic bias and racism in our government and society as a whole, and the unemployment crisis affecting our nation as a consequence of COVID-19 and a republican senate that truly did not give a shit about people. Hopefully cooperation is the order of the day as that is what it is going to take to end each of these inter-related emergent threats that easily could return us to chaos.

This episode of Tales From The Drop Box is a brief soundtrack to a new era filled with hope for a better tomorrow, starting today.

Tales From The Drop Box Episode 183 (2020-31) The Vote Trump Out Episode (We Still Have An Out Of Control Pandemic And It Is Getting F_ing Worse)

It is the day before the U.S. national election and these notes are short for a reason. They are designed to implore you to get out and vote to end the suffering of millions of Americans caused by a corrupt lying monster that is our current president. End the chaos, the suffering, the corruption, the lunacy and cult of personality. End the ridiculous abject failure of a COVID-19 non response. Vote the Republican bootlickers out as well. We need a fresh start to our democracy where there is less divisiveness, where Black Lives do matter, where issues that impact our citizens are taken seriously by our leaders, where society exists that balance individual freedoms against the objectives of a free society. Where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, where synchronicity exists. When it is not about the I or them but about the we – we the people of the United States of America. If I can’t change your mind then no one will. This election is solely about the will of a country’s citizens to unseat a corrupt demagogue. Make voting your priority.

But I digress. Get out and vote. In this election your vote truly does count. So, listen to this podcast while you wait in line to preserve what is left of our democracy.
